On being needy

Needy is such a maligned word, especially when its attached to a woman. God forbid that you should be a needy woman..society conjures up images of a woman who has no life of her own and spends her time being nagging and tagging along especially to her partner.

I think we are wrong. Women spend a significant amount of time tending to other people's needs, their husbands and partners, their children, their parents and siblings, their girlfriends, bosses, pets but the minute they indicate that they may have any needs that need tending to, they're made to feel like nagging hags who have no life of their own. Ofcourse they have no life of their own, they have no time left over after everyone else's needs are catered to.

Am re-inventing the term needy woman. A needy woman is one who may need some rest, may need some time of her own to just sit on the couch and veg out, watch some telly, perhaps read a good book. A needy woman is a woman who needs space to be creative and do her own projects, pursue her hobbies. A woman who needs her husband or partner to take up some of the responsibilities in the house so she doesn't have to do everything after a hard day's work. Its a woman who needs time out from normal activity to spend quality time with her significant other.

Lets get in touch with our needy side, the benefits can be immense.

sleep, where thou art?

My little girl as been unwell for the past 3 weeks. It started with a cold which we sort of hoped would heal on its own without any medical or doctor intervention. That was not to be. We rubbed vicks on her back, chest and even on her feet in a bid to ease the cold and it did ease for a short time, then it came back a week ago. In the meantime, i contracted the cold (or so i thought) it came with chills, aching joints and muscles, chest pain and a really, really sore throat. Two fridays ago, late in the evening, i ended up in the ER with the doctor diagnosing strep throat. Now, anyone who's ever had a strep throat can tell you its no walk in the park. Its like a hyper cold. There was no endless runny nose, simply a throat that is on fire coupled with serious malaise. Talking, eating and basically any other activity that involves the mouth (or any other body part, for that matter) is out of question. Moving Sucks.

After a protracted and ardous search for new office space that has enough space and doesnt cost the earth, the universe obliged. The initial joy of finding a space has been quickly replaced by the terror of moving. Anyone who has moved, any size of house or office know one thing without a doubt:Moving sucks! Moving sucks energy, moving sucks time, moving sucks money. It would be a fair assessment to say that moving sucks living out of life.
